THIS video for DJ Shadow’s “This Time” is a couple years old – but it is still quite awesome. Mykola Dosenko’s animation style seems simple but well-done and pretty funny – definitely something to brighten your day :) You can see more of his work on his website.

Let me know what you think!

If the last name of Pete Candeland isn’t enough to like him, this peace he directed for The Beatles: Rockband is. This is my absolute favorite out of the motion graphics/animation/vis fx works I’ve seen in the past month. I have to admit, it does have to do with me liking The Beatles a lot, but the execution of this work is awesome as well. I can’t get tired of watching it.

Thank you, Motionographer!

For all of you Beatles fans, this video has a LOT of references, especially towards the end. It is a lot of fun to try to catch them :)

June 14, 2009

It’s been a crazy few weeks, sorry I haven’t been updating this blog much. I finished my finals, got done with few last (crazy) days of my college job and got back home. Without really having any time to catch my breath, started a summer internship at this place: Cinnamon

Now that I’ve caught my breath, I promise I’ll pay more attention to this little blog here! :)

Summer heat won’t stop me from looking at motion graphics. Ha.

This website has been around for a while, but I recently found it again and decided to share it here. If you haven’t seen it – check it out.

And this is just hilarious. A mix of transformers and terminator… awesome:)

Finals

May 23, 2009

Finals at SCAD always mean not having time for anything. For me, it means sitting in front of the computer for hours and hours… not necessarily working though.

This post deserves what I consider a classic of motion graphics. I don’t care if not many people would agree, to me it’s a classic.

P.I.W.O.

May 18, 2009

What these guys did is amazing. Group that call themselves P.I.W.O. (B.E.E.R. in English) created this awesome installation in Wroclaw, Poland, using the windows of the Wroclaw University of Technology.

If u go to Youtube there are many more related videos from other angles and there are some shorter ones…

Really happy to see this kind of art developing around the world

SCAD

May 17, 2009

Going to SCAD for motion graphics (or any other major, I suppose) takes more time than a full-time job would.

I remember when I first came here and found out I would only be taking 3 classes a quarter and have 3 day weekends, I thought it’d be easy – but who wouldn’t. The reality is, taking those 3 classes will most likely barely leave you time to go grocery shopping. SCAD is like a full-time job you’re paying for.

So if you’re looking for an art school that will prepare you for getting a job, this is great. Even if your portfolio sucks in the end (which would be your fault), your work ethic will most likely be quite amazing. In fact, one of my graduating friends told me he is looking forward to his 10-hour workdays at his new job because he will have so much more free time.

Just some thoughts that go through my head every other Sunday, after another weekend full of animating and schoolwork.

Transformers 2

May 13, 2009

This is going to be awesome…. Even if I didn’t like Transformers, I would go just to see the great visual effects work in this movie.

This made me happy today.

For some reason.

Also, today the rest of the F5 Re:Play Film Festival videos have been finally posted online. Shilo’s is my favorite. Check it out here:  Awesomeness!

ps. not being able to put embedded Vimeo videos on my page here drives me nuts. Sorry for making you guys click on links. I know it takes effort.

Psyop

Watching this video made me laugh. Psyop gave a preview of one of their new Milk spots at F5, but I did’nt know they did 2. Perfect 3D animation, as usual :)
